Remnants of Fire explores what remains after destruction. Constructed from steel, plastic, and thread, the work brings together materials that carry contrasting associations of strength, fragility, permanence, and impermanence. Their interwoven forms suggest the aftermath of something once consuming, where what is left behind becomes its own record of what has been endured.
The work considers the remnants we carry with us after experiences that fundamentally change us. Like the traces left by fire, these remnants can be scars, memories, connections, or pieces of something that no longer exists in its original form. Rather than focusing on destruction itself, Remnants of Fire considers what can persist in its wake, and the possibility of finding meaning in what remains.
