o̶v̶e̶r̶/medicated/u̶n̶d̶e̶r̶ II
Crafted from thousands of prescription bottles collected through a growing community, o̶v̶e̶r̶/medicated/u̶n̶d̶e̶r̶ transforms one of the most recognizable objects associated with mental health, disability, and medical care into an immersive landscape of connection, vulnerability, and resilience. The installation invites viewers to physically enter the work, moving beneath a sprawling network of bottles that echoes the complexity of the human mind and the interconnectedness of our experiences.
At its core, o̶v̶e̶r̶/medicated/u̶n̶d̶e̶r̶ is about the search for balance. Psychiatric medication can be lifesaving, but finding the right medication, dosage, and combination is rarely simple. The bottles become a record of that process: the trial and error, the side effects, the uncertainty, and ultimately the possibility of finding something that helps. By transforming these discarded objects into a space that viewers can enter, the work asks us to reconsider what we throw away, what we carry with us, and the stories that can exist within something as seemingly ordinary as a prescription bottle.
